"Power of the Spirit" had its genesis during World Youth Day 2008 in Sydney, with a different refrain. It was initially sung at the Broken Bay Catechesis sessions held at Holy Name Parish Wahroonga. More recently it was updated to include a verse directly related to the Plenary Council theme "Listen to What the Spirit is Saying," and the 2008 World Youth Day refrain was replaced with "O Come, Holy Spirit, Come." It was recorded by Paul Mason, Seth Harsh, Michaela Rose and Catholic Youth Ministry Wollongong (CYMW) as part of the Diocesan Resource kit for the Wollongong Diocesan Plenary process. It is published in the spiral-bound edition Hymns & Spiritual Songs: Volume 1," and released in 2019. It featured at the Australian Pastoral Musicians Network 2019 Conference Listen to the Spirit and Sing, held in Melbourne in September 2019.
Drawing its text from scripture passages that feature during Easter (cf. Luke 24:49; John 14:26, 17:26; Acts1:4, 2:3-4; Revelation 2-3, 4:11 and 5:12) it has broad application during Easter Season, Ascension and Pentecost, as well as for the Sacrament of Confirmation. It can be used as an Entrance Song or for Sending Forth. This digital download edition includes:
